good afternoon, everybody!
i have a belief deep down within my heart that my future will be bright.
my future will be bright with all my loving families. whether time find us far apart or it keeps us close together, they are always standing by my side.
my future will be bright with all the close and caring friends of mine. whenever i am sad and down, i know they would hold my hands and warm my heart.
my future will be bright with the belief in brighter days. life doesn’t always play by rules, and we must face the fact that there are days that things could be better. but i have a belief which see me through the dark times.
i have a belief that joys once lost can always be found.
i have a belief that there is rainbows after every storm.
i have a belief that in the long run, my efforts will give back as much as i give, without a doubt.
this belief gives me hope that is as certain as sun when the world seems to be wearing a frown.
it is a steady and joyful light in my life.
it is a blessing i continue to count on through the years.
it is a light that will shine in me until the end of time.
it is a treasure a million times more valuable than the ones some people spend a lifetime trying to find.
now, m dear friends, carry the sun inside you, and reach out for the dreams that guide you where you want to go. you have what it takes to make your path of succe.you have the courage and strength to see things through. you have the smile that will guide you to the beautiful tomorrows.
so, with so much to be thank for, i believe that my future will be bright, and i believe that our future will be bright!
thank you.

do you remember what date is it today?
yes. more than half a century ago, the same time of today in 1935, when china was in trouble from both inside and outside, being at the edge of life and death, who was it that, excited with boiling blood, bravely stood out? it’s young students like you! again about a hundred years ago, when chinese territory was invaded and seized, who was it that stood up, roaring with anger: give back my land! again young students like you, who
added a histoy-making page of may 4th movement in chinese history! during the years of killings and fightings, countless number of students, for the sake of a bright china, had to give up their learning and marched toward the battle fields. they sacreficed their blood and life for the peaceful world which we have today. while we are priding ourselves on this, we must be clearly conscious that though there is no longer smoke of gunpowder, we face peaceful evoluation, police interference, sovereign right provocation, economic sanctions, and moreover the gang-up of splittists from home and abroad. these hidden unsafe factors will long be existing and slip in unnoticed at any possible time.
boys and girls, who will support china’s future? nobody else but you young generation! who will let china stand on top of the world? nobody else but you! who will keep five-star flag flying high against the blue sky? nobody else but you! young friends, be firm and be strong! for our pioneers, for our future, let’s sing together the song “in praise of our motherland”!

As you slowly open your eyes, look around ,
当你慢慢睁开眼睛的时候, 环顾四周,
Notice where the light comes into your room;
注意到阳光是从什么地方射到你的房间;
feel with your body and spirit, and see if you can sense the freshness in the air.
用你的身心去感觉, 看看你是否能感受到空气中 散发出的新鲜气息。 listen carefully, see if there are new sounds you can recognize; 仔细听听, 看看你可以辨认出新的声音;
Yes, yes, yes, its a new day, its a different day, and its a bright day! And most importantly, it is a new beginning for your life, a beginning where you are going to take new actions,
make new friends,
and take your life to a totally unprecedented level!

when i was seven, i started learning english. i played games and sang english songs with other children. sometimes, i watched english cartoons. it's funny. then i discovered the beauty of the language, and began my colorful dream in the english world.
i hope i can travel around the world someday. i want to go to america to visit washington, because my cousin is over there. of course, i want to go to london too, because england is where english language developed. if i can ride my bike in cambridge university, i will be very happy. i hope i can speak english with everyone in the world. also i'll introduce china to them, such as the great wall, and the gardens in suzhou. i will teaching people of the world about the beautiful language of our country.
i like the english language. to learn english is wonderful. i once wanted to be an english teacher . i also like chinese literature. when i was really young, i was able to remember lots of poems. i also wanted to be a teacher of chinese. now i think that both of my dreams can come true: i will be able to use english to teach foreign friends chinese and share chinese culture with them. so that more and more people will be able to get to know the 5000 years' history culture, and the prosperity of our great china.
my future is not a dream.

i often wonder what friendship is. friendship is too big a topic to talk about either specifically or generally. i guemost of us are still in a puzzling state about what friendship is, and i myself should be included. maybe people who define friendship according to his own life experience will say that they have a good concept of friendship, which i think is too narrow to get an objective definition of it. but how hard it would be to talk about friendship without mixing personal feeling in it, especially when it comes to the matter of closest friend. so here i would like to share my views with you about friendship, about my closest friend.
i have had friends since i was born, some of whom have come along with me through my life, and it is impossible to always keep your friends around you since departure is one part of life that everybody must experience. though some of you may oppose me by exaggerating the connotation of the concept of being together that is friends may not stay together physically but they can stay together always psychologically, i still hold that departure is an absolute thing. how could it be possible that your friend (even your closest friend) always keeps you in heart as he/she had, is having and will have different experiences from yours? somehow different experiences make up of different hearts. man’s heart is a quite strange thing. never think that one can wholly touch it. sometimes our heart is so abstract that you don’t even know how to get to them. if we take heart as a cube, and closest friend a gentle breeze, this breeze can only blow one facet of this cube from one direction and can rarely reach any other sides of your heart.
i’m not sure whether i have put it very clearly but believe me that there are no fixed closest friend in your life. with different time, place, space, emotion and situation, you have different closest friends. when i play basketball, i have a closest friend who knows how to cooperate with me and together give our opponents a deadly attack; when i am alone and feel so lonely, i have a friend who can always comfort me by saying that he is my friend; when i am in need of money, the one who comes all the way and lend his money to me without any hesitation is my closest friend; when i am proud and a friend dares to stand out to warn me that i should keep modest, he is my closest friend; and, when i read old man and the sea, i think hemingway is my best friend.
you see then, how many closest friends i have. but i must say, though i always want to keep all of them in my heart, they are not actually always in my heart. they have their own friends and their own life. winston churchill once said that there’s no perpetual friend, nor perpetual enemy, only perpetual interest. i guehe’s right in some way.personally i think it is a shame for people who take a pet as his closest friend as this is a sheer insult to human being and an absolute indignity for the word friendship.
if a dog is his closest friend, what is human to him? you can imagine how would a person with his animal closest friend do to people. and maybe sometimes a dog can give him mental comfort, but what a dog likes best is just a bone. friendship is indeed an inborn desire of mankind, and it is relationship between people, not between people and animals. if you seek friendship, please seek it from people, from people around you.actually i have much more to say but… your criticism welcome

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen!
I am glad to be here to share my opinions with all of you. My topic today is about Internet.
With the development of technology, more and more people are fond of using Internet. It is particularly popular among young people. Just like the coin has two sides, internet also has its own advantages and disadvantages.
First of all, the Internet has brought people great convenience in getting information, entertainment and contact with each other. As for our students, it is a useful tool when we meet problems. When we are tired, a piece of light music will help us relax. If we have free time, we can enjoy movies or interesting cartoons. What's more, we can also watch live programs on the internet or see it later if we are not available at that time.
But there is also bad influence. Some of the young teenagers are addicted to computer games, and some even play games all night. Because of lacking in sleep, those students can not focus on in the class . As a result, they may fail in the exam. When they realize it is wrong to spend too much time playing games, it's already too late.
I have remembered such a piece of news . An excellent student flunked (考试不及格) because he could not concentrate on his study for being too indulged in computer games. He spent nearly all the money on games, which was earned by his father's selling blood. When his father knelt down to beg him to return to school, he was too numb to show any regret.
The most serious harm of computer games come from their contents, which affects teenagers ' mental health. Many games involve violence, such as fighting and killing. When they enjoy the pleasure of success, a violent turn of mind is developed and rooted in them, which may induce future violent behaviour in their life.
So when computers' entertaining function is highly spoken of ,such a problem does deserve our serious concern.
In addition, long time's working before computer also does harm to health. The radiation from the computer can arose many uncomfortable feelings., like a headache, poor eyesight.
At last, people who are fond of making friends on line should also be careful. Many convicts use Internet as a way to cheat. Although it has many disadvantages , Internet has become an indispensable part of people's life in recent years. In my point of view, it's wrong to blame Internet itself, it's all depend on the way we use it. If we use it in a right way, it can be one of the best friends in our life.
That 's all , thank you !

honorable judges, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen:
it is a great honor and pleasure to be here on this beautiful saturday morning to share with you my sentiments about life and passion for the english language. about a year and a half ago, i took part in my very first english speech contest. when i stood before the microphone with all eyes starring directly at me, i could hardly speak. i stood there, embarrassed and helpless, struggling in vain for the right thing to say. my fears had paralyzed me.
as it turned out, my dear old professor was right. now, here i am, once again standing before a microphone. my heart is beating fast, and my mouth is dry, but most importantly, i have faced my fears -- and that makes all the difference! thank you.

A friend of mine named Paul received an automobile from his brother as a Christmas present. On Christmas Eve when Paul came out of his office, a street urchin was walking around the shiny new car, admiring it.
"Is this your car, Mister?" he said.
Paul nodded. "My brother gave it to me for Christmas." The boy was astounded. "You mean your brother gave it to you and it didn’t cost you nothing? Boy, I wish . . ." He hesitated.
Of course Paul knew what he was going to wish for. He was going to wish he had a brother like that. But what the lad said jarred Paul all the way down to his heels.
"I wish," the boy went on, "That I could be a brother like that."
Paul looked at the boy in astonishment, then impulsively he added, "Would you like to take a ride in my car?"
"Oh yes, Id love that."
After a short ride, the boy turned with his eyes aglow, said, "Mister, would you mind driving in front of my house?"
Paul smiled a little. He thought he knew what the lad wanted. He wanted to show his neighbors that he could ride home in a big automobile. But Paul was wrong again. "Will you stop where those two steps are?" the boy asked.
He ran up the steps. Then in a little while Paul heard him coming back, but he was not coming fast. He was carrying his little crippled brother. He sat him down on the bottom step, then sort of squeezed up against him and pointed to the car.
"There she is, Buddy, just like I told you upstairs. His brother gave it to him for Christmas and it didn’t cost him a cent. And some day Im gonna give you one just like it . . . then you can see for yourself all the pretty things in the Christmas windows that Ive been trying to tell you about." Paul got out and lifted the lad to the front seat of his car. The shining-eyed older brother climbed in beside him and the three of them began a memorable holiday ride. That Christmas Eve, Paul learned
what Jesus meant when he said: "It is more blessed to give . . . "
