仙女山大雪不断,上山道路大约有数公里结冰,上山车辆必须绑上防滑链才能通行。自驾上山的车友请务必在半山腰装上雪地防滑链，费用为40元。在前往仙女山的路途中，加油站分布在渝涪高速路口(统景服务区)、涪陵市区、白涛、羊角、武隆、仙女山半山腰这六处。从涪陵到武隆途中的羊角镇是车友们必须停车的地方，因为这里有重庆正宗的名小吃豆腐干。
仙女山属于武隆山系，位于武隆县境内的乌江北岸，西面和涪陵接嚷，东面和酆都交界。剧“涪州志”记载：武隆司东30里，山峰石洞幽邃，西昂穿有仙女住此，飞升不复见。仙女山由此得名。仙女山方圆400多平方公里，海拔1800多米，主峰海拔2033米，是武陵县的最高峰。
